CBI has arrested an Assistant Superintendent of postal department for allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs 50,000 to complete the appointment process of a gramin dak sevak.
Phool Singh, Assistant Superintendent (Post) posted at Sub-Division Panipat was arrested under the provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act.
CBI spokesperson R K Gaur said here that the officer had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 2.50 lakh from the complainant.
“It was alleged that the complainant had applied for the post of Gramin Dak Sewak at Post Office, Dadlana,Distt. Panipat. He received a letter issued by Assistant Superintendent(Post), Sub-Division, Panipat vide which he was directed to report with his original certificates at the said office,” the Spokesperson said.
Gaur said when the complainant visited the Post Office and met the Assistant Superintendent he was directed to come again on July 25, 2016.
“It was further alleged that when the complainant went to the Post Office and met the Assistant Superintendent, the accused demanded a bribe of Rs 2.50 lakh and told the complainant that in case the said bribe amount was not paid, his process of appointment will not be initiated,” he said.
Gaur said subsequently, the bribe amount was reduced to Rs 1.25 lakh.
“CBI laid a trap wherein the Assistant Superintendent (Post) was caught red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant,” he said.
Punish him kick him out from the service and cancel his all degrees certificate so that he cannot rejoin any govt./ public sector to these type of culprit.
well done . none were pay such bribes. if any demand from such culprits, be caught with such CBI.
