Birth and death registration within the stipulated period of time is mandatory for all citizens in India. The process had been made legal by enacting the registration of births and death Act of 1969. The state government has appointed registrars according to the residing area whether a reported person belongs to a panchayath, municipality, corporation, or a combination of both. Now all such activities can be carried out through the various online portals which are made available by the Government authorities. So we can download Bith Certificate, Death Certificate, and Marriage Certificate online without visiting the LSGD offices. The application for correcting the details in the Birth/Death/Marriage Certificate can also be submitted online through the said portal.
One thing we must note is that we have to pay some prescribed charge if the registration is carried out after the expiry prescribed time limit. According to common rules for marriage registration, all marriages in the state must be registered within 45 days from the date of solemnization of marriage irrespective of religion. It can be done in accordance with whether you belong to Panchayath, municipality, or corporation. Necessary documents for registration include a memorandum in duplicate, a copy of marriage certificates issued by religious authority, 3 passport size photos, and an attested copy of any ID proof showing the date of birth issued by the government.
